It all began on Brigantine Beach in NJ, when the run of the mill beach chair I owned broke while vacationing with family. The chair was never really comfortable to begin with, and I was frustrated by the whole experience. I was reflecting on it while driving back to Maine and thought building a beach chair would be a fun project. Around exit 81 on the Garden State Parkway I had visualized the specific design: an attractive wood frame, a high back to cradle my head, and the seat suspended from frame with bungee cord. Picturing myself sitting down in it, I said 'Oh Yeah, Comfy!' I knew immediately that I wanted to design, manufacture and sell the best beach chair in the world and that the name of the business would be Oh Yeah Comfy. I thought about nothing else on the 7 hour drive north to Maine. The next week I bought a drill press and converted the dining room of my 3rd floor apartment in Portlands Munjoy Hill neighborhood into my workshop and design studio. Best landlords ever, but I digress. I spent about 18 months honing my woodworking skills throughout Portland while at the same time figuring out how to design a piece of folding furniture. The design was finalized in 2004 and we began selling them all across the country. We are dedicated to providing unique casual furniture and accessories that are aesthetically pleasing and built using the finest materials available.
